Books and philosophy transforming your moment-to-moment experiences
Living Inspired — Most days, I’m writing down words of the teachers and publishing books because we’re building a library of works for you. But like you, I learn from these works. These awesome gifts to us of wisdom and guidance are so worth applying. So I try to every day, even in simple ways.
My Holidays were again truly joyful ones, because I could travel to visit with loved ones. Though we're deep in snow here, I can hear the birds preparing for Spring. It won't be long. We'd hoped to travel south, but challenging weather throughout the eastern US kept me closer to home. So, I've worked on reviewing books and completing Learning Companions for each of the books (with the exception of Happiness Abounds, as our Introductory work). Soon, the entire series, all updated with similar formats, will be complete. I'm very proud of that. But there is still a lot to do as I turn my attention to sharing more of the teachers' wisdom on this blog, and getting the word out through social media. There seems to be a never ending list of things to do, but I'm truly excited about it. I'm looking to create some audiobooks, too. My goal is to create as many opportunities as possible for others to benefit from the Simple, Beautiful Philosophy series, and its wisdom and guidance. I've just reread Groundswell, now available for you in paperback and Kindle versions on Amazon, and it's made, once again, such an impact on my life. I hope you will read it.
It's autumn and I'm preparing works for publication while also appreciating beach grass! We're under Covid restictions about gatherings, so outdoor activities which benefit others is a way for me to feel connected. Our community beach needs help, so I've learned about restoring beaches and dunes through planting beachgrass. It's been an adventure. During these challenging times, I draw inspiration from the Simple, Beautiful Philosophy books. Others, too, light the way with their goodness and incredible gifts of service.
It's summer, and I'm volunteering for a recreational organization. What I've learned and applied from these books influenced others in the organization to achieve remarkable goals of rebuilding, charting new directions, and broadening our outreach. Elsewhere, I'm leading a writing group and relishing the outpouring of creativity. I'm also completing the Magnitude Learning Companion, accomplished by going over each chapter in Magnitude, developing with the teachers meaningful questions for reflection. Study guides are a wonderful aid for learning and to foster sharing with others. The Magnitude Learning Companion is especially rich in insight, and I hope stimulates interest by readers in discussion groups. Bringing readers this wisdom is unbelievably rewarding! I benefit enormously, too, in that I can read and refer back often to these Simple, Beautiful Philosophy works to keep on track, be optimistic, and experience transformation in my life.
It's spring. I'm social distancing, staying close to home, and offering thoughts of well-being for others. Yet I'm free to seek out new paths and open roads. This feels like applying words from Magnitude, "Move out of the shallows of your experience ... go the distance, and start the journey to experience real living." In my reveries while I walk, I'm so grateful for the beauty of trees. Their towering presence and endurance reassures. I'm glad, too, to see others and call out greetings or wave. I know Aggie, my dog, needs the exercise and to feel less confined. Don't we all! I draw daily courage from the teachers' awesome words in their latest posts: When you are beset by fear, and When doubt prevails.
